Phillips opted to head for Manchester in the summer of 2022, with City putting a £50 million ($64m) deal in place. The 27-year-old has collected Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and UEFA Super Cup winners’ medals while at the Etihad Stadium, but made just 21 appearances last season and is yet to figure under Pep Guardiola this term.

AND WHAT'S MORE

With that in mind, claims that Liverpool are considering rekindling their interest. The Reds have lost the likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner this summer, while missing out to Chelsea in bids for Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.

Phillips is under contract at City until 2028, but he may welcome the opportunity to find more regular game time elsewhere – with minutes required if he is to add to the collection of 27 caps that he has already earned with England.
